Produced
by: Climate Change, World Bank (2005)This is a workshop report from "Dealing

spirit of the Convention on the Rights of the Child" 2005. The workshop was
convened to meet with stakeholders in the West Bank to explore methods and
procedures to strengthen the legal and social protection of Palestinian children
who are accused of collaboration with the Israeli forces. The workshop aimed to

BRIDGE
cutting edge pack on gender and trade
Produced by: BRIDGE (2006)
Trade and trade
liberalization have very different impacts on women and men - which can result
in fundamental shifts in gender roles, relationships and inequalities. Moreover
increasing claims that countries should be enabled to "trade their way out of
poverty" means that there is an urgent need to address how trade can promote
gender equality and development. What policies are likely to have an effect on
gender equality and how can suchpolicies be influenced? How can development
practitioners promote gender equality and better support women's access to the
benefits of trade? Available online at:

Developing capacity to achieve gender equality in education
Produced by: Oxfam
(2005)
This paper shows the ways in which individual,
organizational, and institutional capacity all play important roles in producing
positive educational results for girls and boys. The paper concludes that
developing capacity for gender equality involves implementing a range of
strategies, such as gender training for both male and female administrators and
teachers to raise awareness and to provide necessary skills for gender analysis,
and initiatives to increase women's visibility within organizations, for example
through using quotas. Developing capacity means focusing on gender concerns
within organizations, and mainstreaming gender issues an integral part of
educational planning processes. Theappropriate allocation of financial resources
must also be built in to these processes for them to succeed. Available online

Equal
participation of women and men in decision-making processes, with particular
emphasis on political participation and leadership
Produced by: United Nations
(UN) Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) (2005) This paper examines
both the political participation and political representation aspects of
decision- making in order to assess why equal participation of women and men in
decision-making continues to be a critical issue to address. The paper examines
the underlying issues that influence the disparity between men and women in this
area, and assesses the various strategies to address this disparity. Available

Inside
the home, outside the law: abuse of child domestic workers in Morocco
Produced
by: Human Rights Watch (HRW) (2005)
This report looks at child labour by girls
under age eighteen in Morocco who perform household tasks while living with
their employers. The authors place special emphasis on the treatment of girls
under fifteen in this report because girls in that age group are most vulnerable
to abuse and least likely to have the emotional, cognitive, and social resources
to remove themselves from an abusive situation. Available online at:

Women: Taking Control of Their Own
Destiny
Contrary to certain preconceived ideas, women affected by conflicts are not
passive victims. They put their energy and expertise into improving their
day-to-day life and strengthening their community. The
involvement of women in anti-landmine awareness campaigns helps prevent
accidents and their tragic consequences. Women are most effective in
communicating prevention guidelines to children, a group at particular risk.

Civil society concerned about slow
delivery on democratisation and political liberalisation in Jordan
Jordanians
and international rights activists say that rather than delivering on his
promises, King Abdullah II bin al Hussein's reign has failed to implement
reforms, has created a raft of temporary laws, and seen tighter controls on the
media and public assembly. ‘The country has not opened up politically,’ says Joost Hilterman, Middle East analyst for the International Crisis Group (ICG)

Monitoring

Evaluation
Resources
for
Program
Managers
Monitoring and
Evaluating (M & E) offers an opportunity to prove the impact of your work. It
can be a crucial signpost that keeps you on track, gives you a chance to
reassess priorities, and can help compile an evidence base for future funding
proposals. M&E is a regular, systematic collection and analysis of information
to track the progress of project implementation. Evaluation analyses the
judgment of information in order to assess value, worth or impact of a project.
Additionally it looks at the dynamics of development interventions and
identifies the reasons for both success and failure and how one can learn from
both. The following links can help managers develop and refine their M&E
strategies:
