The Independent Resource and Information Service (IRIS of Lebanon), a project of CRTD-A, would like to invite applications for the post of Project Officer in order to participate in the implementation of the first phase of the Lebanon Development Gateway.

The Lebanon Development Gateway is a new CRTD-A/IRIS initiative that aims at fostering sustainable development in Lebanon through the usage of ICT technologies. This initiative is expected to lead to the construction of a knowledge development portal around which will revolve a number of other knowledge, information sharing, and capacity building activities. LDG is designed as a collaborative effort between the public sector, the NGO and private sectors, as well as the international development community.

The post holder will report to the Project Manager and is expected to be responsible for the implementation of all the activities of the first phase of the project according to a set work plan with clear deliverables.

The successful candidate is expected to follow up, as well as input into the various aspects of the first phase of the project. These include assessing the level of e-readiness in Lebanon, assessing and identifying the knowledge needs of the various development stakeholders in the country, the elaboration of a marketing and business plan. He/She is also expected to forge, strengthen, and support overall partnerships with the public, NGO, private commercial and donors sectors.

The candidate must be a holder of a university degree in Business Administration, Economics, ICT, or any development-related field. He/She will have a minimum of two years experience as well as demonstrable experience in carrying out complex development projects involving people management skills.

Excellent ICT skills and key information technology trends are needed in addition to fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic. The post starts earliest in January 2004 and will run for a period of eight months.
