Collective for Research & Training on Development-Action Independent Resource & Information Services Lebanon Development Gateway (2/4/2004)

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Assist in the identification of key sub-segments within the Lebanon population to constitute the focus of the E-needs assessment.
  • Carry out an analysis of ICT readiness targeting particular social groups and further identifying both their revealed and suppressed needs for ICT applications
  • Collect qualitative data by means of focus groups, surveys, questionnaires or any other suitable methodology.
  • Conduct a thorough desk research and analysis of development related ICT needs with specific focus on gender based needs (in the area of government and administration, business, education, health and civil society)
  • Attend workshops, meetings and conferences held by the LDG
  • Produce a current and up-to-date e-knowledge needs report for Lebanon. The report should focus on the ICT applications and information knowledge needs of the specific stakeholders and potential users.

Needed Skills

  • Proven ability to carry out field and desk research
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience in producing reports and papers
  • Sufficient knowledge of the various ICT technologies and their appropriate terms
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with development sensitive issues and of NGO community
  • Commitment to gender equality and social justice

Terms

  • The position is offered on a consultancy task basis
  • The task is expected to require 40 working days spread over a period of several months
  • No strict officer hours are required
