Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth- ULDY
The Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth, a non-profit
organization established in Lebanon in 1970, dedicates itself to the
issue of democracy and youth. ULDY's strategic aim is to mobilize
the youth, women and men around issues related to social awareness,
community participation and democracy in a country that had been
fragmented by sectarianism and civil strife. ULDY is currently
implementing its developmental projects and programmes all over
Lebanon, ensuring an even spread of its purposes and ideas.
ULDY's major objectives and goals include:
- Increasing public and political participation of the youth.
- Addressing the problems of unemployment, poverty and housing, and
protecting the rights of local working forces from foreign
competition.
- Achieving Gender equality and gender
mainstreaming through effective workplans and strategies, in
collaboration with other grassroots NGOs and women organizations in
Lebanon.
- Supporting women's rights, advocating against the use of violence
in all its aspects, and

eliminating all forms of discrimination
against women in conformation with the CEDAW
convention and the
clauses of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
- Conducting qualitative studies and analyses to reach possible
solutions for environmental problems in Lebanon.
- Improving public schools and universities; in terms of curricula
and structure-maintenance.
- Conducting campaigns to induce awareness of children's rights
among parents, children, youth and adults.
