"The
Gender, Citizenship and Nationality Programme"
Strategy Meeting 2004
In March 2002, and following a meeting of the CRTD MACMAG
GLIP focal points in Beirut, a collective initiative entitled
Women’s Right to Nationality was launched within the scope
of a regional ‘Gender, Citizenship and Nationality Programme’.
The first phase of this initiative was useful in the sense
that it resulted in the regional and country research and
reports, and provided essential knowledge and awareness on
Gender, citizenship and nationality in various Arab States.
The action-research was conducted in seven countries - Lebanon,
Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen and Jordan - and subsequently
national reports for each of these countries have been produced.
Those different reports have been compiled in a regional report
that was presented in October 2003 at a regional validation
meeting in Beirut.
