The objective of the third module is to discuss and practice strategies for engendering citizenship and governance in the region. - The Collective for Research and Training on Development-Action (CRTD.A)
The Collective for Research and Training on Development-Action (CRTD.A) is an organisation established and based in Beirut/Lebanon in 1999. CRTD is active in servicing programmes, initiatives and activities in the field of poverty, gender and social development in Lebanon and the Arab region (Middle East and North Africa).
CRTD.A’s key gender programmes is the “Machreq/Maghreb Gender Linking & Information Project” (MACMAG GLIP). The goal of the Middle East/Maghreb Gender Linking and Information Project (MACMAG GLIP) is to build and sustain a forum to provide opportunities for analysis, learning and exchange on women, gender and development amongst local groups, grassroots NGOs and networks at all levels in order to strengthen and sustain institutional capacity and dialogue on women, gender and development within the Middle East/Maghreb Region as well as collaboration and solidarity across the region. Other programmes include the Gender and Citizenship programme, the Youth, Gender and Leadership Programme, the Gender, Economy and Trade Programme and the ICT for Social Development Programme.
CRTD is committed to generating understanding of culturally constructed gender roles and relations in the region, and the ways that these are exercised within organisations and institutions of all kinds, state, commercial and nongovernmental, usually with negative outcomes for women. To expose the need for equity and equality between women and men, CRTD has undertaken several gender awareness-training workshops in the region. The true value of such training is when the issues learned and absorbed can be put into practice within specific institutional contexts. |
